Today at school we had to do a Figurative Language task. I learnt that a hyperbole is a exaggerated statement. A idiom is a well-know phrase has a different meaning that is said or written.

The translator finds outs what all figurative language means . My groups book is Dawn Raid my favorite part so far was when the dad said one kid - one brain, two kids - half a brain, three kids no brain. So we have to Friday to finish.

This is a story about a boy named kageyama
At the age of 7 he was at 6.5 feet. Younger kids had rumors that he had been held back 5 years
and that he beat up his grandma but it wasn’t true and here is his story told by him.
My name is Kageyama. The fact is that there is a monster under my bed. I just know it.
It’s a cold winter night then I hear hissing kageyama over and over very quietly so only I can hear.
It has fingertips as long as sticks it’s hands with massive brown warts,
his hand size of baseballs, arms as small as twigs, legs with dirt and blood all over
and his t-shirts had rips and holes on it. I tried to scream but nothing came out.
He was even more intimidating than I thought with his blood shot eyes and millions of strands of hair.
‘’Dinner time ‘’ it gurgles ‘’please don’t eat me I plead ‘’ sorry mate but I haven't eaten in 4 minutes’’ he replies
then he swolls me down in one gulp i'm not dead I say to myself as
I swirl down threw his body I stop swirling. I think I'm going to be sick as I cry myself to sleep.
I wake up to the smell of dead rats and mice. I try to embarrass myself.
I'm not normally someone to judge something but it was just really
gross and disgusting and just just I threw up again. Then I wake up sweating
oh it was just a “dream’’ I say over and over then
my dad comes rushing in “what wrong’’ he asks “nothing” dad I say
“I love you dad” I say “I love you too son” I says.
The End

How to find the area of a square/rectangle
First you have to do is times the length by the width so here is an example.
Adrenalin Forest
Last week about 20 people from Ata hapara and Tangaroa went to Adrenalin Forest. We when in the vans at about 11am when we got there Gio was there he had a hair cut so his dad took him there the guy told us to go put our bags over by the tables and to get our harness on.
First he took us though out the safety and how to clip on the things so we could't fall down we started with level 1 it was super easy it only took about 10 minutes it was just getting used to all the clipping the zip lines where already my favourite things on the courses but there heaps off different thing like wires to walk on ropes then most off us skipped to level 3 it was a lot harder and it had less zip lines the hardest parts of level 3 was these ropes where you had to have your legs all the way separated and then another hard one was these moving logs.
Then 7 off us went to level 5 on that level was a lot longer and had heaps of zip lines at first I thought I wasn't going to finish behind me was Ezra and Kahukura and they went back than to the ground in front of me was Gio, Ashur, mailli and Alexa but when Ashur got stuck I caught up to him and then we caught up to the others because mailli was going super slow trying get off the last zip line so Gio was calling her a grandma when a got down I was super happy it was super fun there.
Today
Whaea Willie makes us read silently for 15 minutes every day. It has take a while for everyone to settle down but now now actually, really like it. Today I learnt that kowhai trees are simi-evergreen. Tomorrow I wil make sure I go straight into my reading contract.
Estimating up to 100 metres Name:Caspian
Estimate | Actual distance | Difference between Estimate and Actual distance | |
Cone A | 100 m | 97 m | 3 m |
Cone B (yellow) | 125 m | 101 m | 24 m |
Cone C (bike) | 175 m | 110m | 65 m |
What I found out about my estimation process?
I was wrong and I got worse and worse as I went along but I started off good then it went down hill. On the first one I was 3 meters away then on the second I was 24 meters away and then on the last 65 meters. Then when we were measuring the squares outside the first one was 5 meters I not near it and then we did 10 meters I was pretty close now I knew how far 5 meters was then we did 6 meter I got that one right. Now I know that a rugby field is 100 meters so hopefully next time I'll do better. |
